If you have any Speech and Language concerns please talk to your child's key worker. We can give you advice and support and help you fill out the HSE referral form if necessary.

               ABC Family Matters Initiative

The Area Based Childhood (ABC) Programme is jointly funded by the Department of Children & Youth Affairs and Atlantic Philanthropies and is nationally managed by the Centre for Effective Services (CES) and Pobal. 

The Programme aims to break the cycle of child poverty within areas where it is most deeply entrenched and where children most experience disadvantage.

Family Matters is a child-centred, family well being initiative, providing a spectrum of support programmes for children and young people while enhancing the capacity of parents/guardians as primary educators. The overall aim of the programme is to connect with those families most in need of support.

The Family Matters Initiative will work under three thematic strands:

• Oral Language Development

• Parent and Family Support

• Youth Mental Health and Well being

Cherry Orchard Community Childcare will endeavour to ensure that no children are treated unfairly based on grounds of religion, race, nationality, gender, disability, family status etc.

To encourage and support equality and diversity COCC will:

• Understand and recognise that all children are individuals and should be respected equally, we will endeavour to nurture each child's cultural identity and sense of belonging.

• We acknowledge and respect that parents as the primary educators and caregivers of their child, and support the smooth transitioning from home to early childhood care and education setting.

• In line with Aistear/Síolta Practice Guide, implement a curriculum that reflects the identities of all children and recognise their individual abilities and interests.

• Psychology - HSE Cherry orchard Hospital; Drop in psychology service first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month in Rosse Court, Cherry Orchard Hospital

• Parenting support and courses - Familibase, Daughters of Charity, Ballyfermot Partnership

• Ballyfermot Star

Please note, HSE assessment of need referrals have long waiting lists (Incl, Speech and language, Occupational Therapy. Psychology, Audiology).
